PROJECT MANAGER/ENGINEER

JOB DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a new role that has been developed due to restructuring and internal promotions. This is a critical role, and the post holder will be expected to review all current project processes and provide a plan for improvements and efficiency gains to Senior management within 6 – 9 months. Developed under the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Timely) convention. This role comes with the expectation that the post holder will take ownership and manage project deliverables, collaborating with various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

Accountable for the following:

  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor assigned technical and engineering projects.
  • Work with Production Manager to translate client needs and develop into required timelines and project plans.
  • Co-ordinating (including quote generation) two engineers for warranty, commissioning and call out repairs on customer sites in the UK and Abroad (including Middle East).
  • Develop strong relationship with customer project teams (typically, MOD and Defence Prime Contractors).
  • Peer review of project BOM lists.
  • Resolving any problems with the project, plans and budget to ensure that the project flows smoothly.
  • Produce technical deliverable documents.
  • Identifying potential problems with the project, developing solutions, and ensuring that they are implemented.
  • Hosting frequent Project meetings and provide project updates/reports to line manager.
  • Ensuring that all legal requirements are met throughout the project.
  • Working with suppliers to develop viable time scales and compliant deliverables in a collaborative way.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

Education

      • Relevant training in technical skills such as CAD and project management principles.
      • Relevant engineering degree/HND in mechanical, electrical, or automotive engineering. (Or equivalent engineering experience)
      • Candidates also need knowledge of production and cost/budget management.

Experience Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in project engineering, project planning or a related field
  • Managing all levels of staff
  • Additional experience, such as creating project plans and Bill of Material structures is an advantage.
  • MOD EMC requirements, Quality inspections and Testing procedures are an advantage.

Salary: competitive
37.5 hours per week
Office based role with the requirement to occasionally travel for client meetings
